The Vice President of Operations will plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee operations activities in the organization, ensuring the development and implementation of efficient operations and cost-effective systems to meet the organization's current and future needs.  The VP of Operations supervises people managers and individual contributors.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Establishes, implements, and communicates the strategic direction of the organization's operations division.
  • Oversee all manufacturing and production planning functions, ensuring efficiency, quality, and on-time delivery.
  • Manage the supply chain, including sourcing raw materials, managing inventory, and mitigating risks.
  • Drive process optimization initiatives to streamline operations, improve productivity, and reduce costs.
  • Establish manufacturing policies in the areas of Lean Manufacturing techniques, materials, usage, shipping and receiving, capacity planning, production scheduling, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations and performance measures.
  • Build, develop and manage a team capable of carrying out needed operations strategies and improving employee relations.
  • Collaborates with executive leadership and other divisions to develop and meet company goals while supplying expertise and guidance on operations projects and systems.
  • Collaborates with site managers to optimize operations and ensure smooth workflows.
  • Manages inventory levels and implements efficient inventory management systems.
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources and materials.
  • Ensures that departmental decisions and project plans such as those for staffing, development, organization, material efficiency, hardware acquisitions, and facilities are in line with the organization's business plan and vision.
  • Establishes, communicates, and implements operations-related policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent support and execution.
  • Reviews and approves cost-control reports, cost estimates, and staffing requirements for projects.
  • Establishes and administers the department's budget.
  • Presents periodic performance reports and metrics to the General Manager and other leadership.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • This position requires 25-40% travel.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Logistics, or Supply Chain Operations is preferred.
  • MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of ten years of senior management experience in a Manufacturing/Logistics Environment.
  • Manufacturing experience at a $100MM+ company.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects.
  • Experience in Lean/Six Sigma manufacturing operations.
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and best practices in supply chain management.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
